Keeping Cool
Brent, Josh and I went for a three day hiking trip in the High Peaks region of the Adirondacks in upstate New York. The nightly low was -17 and the daily high was -5.
The hiking was arduous and to wear anything more than a few light layers would leave us drenched in perspiration, only to have it freeze if we chose to stand still for more than five minutes. Actively melting snow was the only way to find drinking water and it was mandatory to keep water bottles inside jackets to keep them liquid.
All and all, it was an enjoyable if extraordinarily unpleasant experience.
